You will first need to copy the game file ‘esploraMob.swf’ to your Macromedia® Flash Lite™-enabled mobile phone. Your mobile must support Flash Lite™ v2 or later. (There’s a list of supported phones at www.adobe.com/mobile/supported_devices/handsets.html).
Windows®: copying the esplora! game to your phone via USB
Ensure that you have installed the software that was supplied with your mobile phone on to your computer. Once installed, the software will enable you to transfer files from your computer to your Flash-enabled mobile phone.
For instance, with some Nokia mobile phones, you would install the ‘Nokia Phone Browser’, which is part of the in ‘Nokia PC Suite’ software which can be found on the CD-ROM supplied with the phone.
Once the software is installed, you can copy files or folders from PC to your Nokia phone using the supplied USB cable.
To transfer the esplora! game to your mobile phone (a Nokia phone, in this example), use the following steps:
Launch ‘Nokia PC Suite’ (Start > Programs > Nokia PC Suite > Nokia PC Suite), then click on ‘File manager’. This will launch the ‘Nokia Phone Browser’. Use this browser to navigate to the CD-ROM containing the esplora! game. Locate the file ‘esploraMob.swf’ (in the ‘Mobile phone’ folder).
Right click on the file and choose ‘Copy’. Then, navigate to your mobile phone, and choose a location (e.g. ‘memory card’), right click and choose ‘paste’. ‘esploraMob.swf’ should then appear on your mobile phone. You can now quit out of the ‘Nokia Phone Browser’ software, and un-plug the phone from the computer.
To access the game, go to the phone’s menu, select ‘Flash’, navigate to the memory card, click on ‘esploraMob.swf’ and then launch the file to play the game.
Alternatively, if your computer supports ‘Bluetooth’ wireless connectivity you can connect to your phone via Bluetooth, then copy and paste ‘esploraMob.swf’ from the CD-ROM to your phone. Please refer to your computer’s user manual for further information regarding Bluetooth.
Mac OS X: copying the esplora! game to your phone via Bluetooth
The USB cable supplied with some phones, such as the Nokia 6680, are not compatible with Mac OS X.
However, if both your Mac and mobile phone support ‘Bluetooth’ wireless connectivity, you can transfer the Esplora! game file (‘esploraMob.swf’) from your Mac to your phone.
Ensure your phone’s ‘Bluetooth’ connectivity is switched on. Then activate your Mac’s Bluetooth (System Preferences > Bluetooth, then click on the ‘Settings’ button and click ‘Turn Bluetooth On’).
In the same Bluetooth window, now click on the ‘Devices’ button and click ‘Set Up New Device’. Follow the on-screen prompts. Your Mac will scan for Bluetooth-enabled devices in your vicinity. Click on your phone name which appears listed in a window, and click ‘Continue’. You will be prompted with a serial number on-screen. Enter this number on your phone’s keypad to validate the Mac-phone connection.
Ensure that ‘Bluetooth File Exchange’ and ‘Bluetooth File Transfer’ are checked (ticked) under the ‘Sharing’ button.
Launch ‘Bluetooth File Exchange’ (in Applications > Utilities). Choose File > ‘Browse Device’. You should then see your phone listed in the window that appears. Select (highlight) your phone from the list, and click ‘Browse’. Then click ‘Send’ in the new window that appears. Navigate and select the ‘esploraMob.swf file’ on the CD-ROM (in ‘mobile phone’ folder) and click ‘Send’.
You mobile phone will probably sound a tone when it receives the file via ‘Bluetooth’. You may be asked if you want to accept the message. If you accept, the item is placed in the Inbox folder of your phone’s messaging facility. Open the message in the Inbox, select ‘esploraMob.swf’ and click ‘Enter’. ‘esploraMob.swf’ will then open in the phone’s Flash player.
On some phones you can now use the left soft key to access the Flash Lite menu.In these options you can choose to copy the file to the memory card.
